This has been floating around since 2006 when Ski released it for free, so I'm not entirely sure when it was recorded but I know it's a cool listen for fans of the three emcees and producer involved.
However between these two projects, the trio worked on another proejct that never saaw the light of the day (save for some internet success) - the six track deep "Fort Apache" EP was most likely supposed to work as a prequel of sort to the aforementioned "Black Hollywood". 2002:s "Let's Do It Again" was a real letdown despite sporting the same line-up while 2007:s "Black Hollywood" was definitely a step in the right direction. Featuring timeless pieces such as "Luchini", "Coolie High", "B-side to Hollywood", "Sparkle", "Black Connection" and all that good stuff, fans have been eager to hear more from the trio of Ski, Sonny Chiba and Geechi Suede. As for remakes, he's is also set to star in a redo of 1988's The Great Outdoors, which originally starred Dan Aykroyd and John Candy.Camp Lo and Ski Beatz are synonymous with creating one of the true classic late '90s albums in the excellent "Uptown Saturday Night". Jumanji: The Next Level is headed to theaters in December and Hart is currently filming the upcoming drama Fatherhood. Even better, knowing they're going to work from a Barris-penned script and will be under the direction of Famuyiwa - no stranger to spinning a solid comedy yarn (see Dope for proof of this) - mean this is going to be just plain fun, folks.Īs previously mentioned, the Uptown Saturday Night remake is just one of many irons in Hart's proverbial fire right now. Picturing Hart and another actor (could Dwayne Johnson return for another big-budget team-up?) putting their own modern spin on a comedy is certainly an exciting prospect. Among the stolen items is a winning lottery ticket which the friends then spend all night trying to reclaim. The buddy comedy follows two close friends who got to a luxury, private nightclub and proceed to get robbed while there.
Uptown Saturday Night was not only originally directed by Poitier, but he was also one of the movie's co-leads alongside Bill Cosby (in one of his earliest feature film roles).
